An Introduction to Theatre Lighting - 07/08/2021
For a number of years, I have been involved backstage for local drama productions. Most of this has revolved around configuring and operating theatrical lighting equipment in order to faciltate the creation of a well-lit, widely-enjoyable spectacle. Although I found many guides about the (equally important) artistic side of theatrical/cinematic lighting design, this guide is intended to reduce the scarcity of online information and tutorials regarding the actual physical operation of the specialist technology used for theatre lighting, and the wider technical principles upon which such apparatus is based.
Originally created as a physical booklet and latterly as a PDF, I have now published a more user-friendly online edition of the guide, whose sections are linked below. The entire PDF, however, is still downloadable from the bottom of this page.
